The Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation was formed in 1967 by members of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club to meet the need for a youth sailing program in our community.

The purpose of the Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation is to teach seamanship, sailing and sailboat racing while instilling the values of fitness, self-reliance, responsibility, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We will accomplish these goals with a constant focus on safety.

Voluntary officers and directors serving without compensation direct the Foundation’s objectives and policies. Sailing classes and related instructional periods are conducted by qualified US Sailing certified instructors who are paid for their services.

The Foundation is incorporated under the laws of the State of California and the Internal Revenue Service. The SBYSF is a non-profit corporation and donations are tax deductible. The Foundation is qualified to receive charitable contributions in accordance with Internal Revenue Code section 501.c.3. The Federal taxpayer identification number is 95-2487510.
